Breakfast for the Brave: Even if you don’t regularly watch the news, it’s impossible to miss the fact that our police and other first responders are under fire these days. Whether it’s a targeted act against law enforcement or a random act of violence, our men and women in the police, sheriffs, fire departments and others on the frontlines face untold dangers during each and every shift.
In an effort to encourage, uplift, and show appreciation to these men and women, Eden Westside Baptist Church holds a monthly breakfast for these brave souls, called Breakfast for the Brave. We invite police officers, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, and other first responders in our communities.
Breakfast for the Brave is held the 1st Thursday of each month at our Eden Campus for Pell City area first responders and each 3rd Thursday of the month at our River Campus for the Leeds area first responders.
At one recent breakfast, an officer stopped by to thank Eden Westside members who were blessed to be serving that morning. He said, “We usually dread these kinds of things, but we really love coming here! We fight over who gets this shift every month.”
If this outreach ministry sounds like something you’d like to contribute to, there are several ways to help. First, we need your prayers! Pray for the men and women out on the streets protecting us. Ask the Lord to guide and protect first responders in our community, as well as those around our nation. Don’t forget to pray for your fellow church members who are serving and ministering to those folks at each Breakfast for the Brave.
You can also donate money by writing “Breakfast for the Brave” on an envelope and placing it in the offering plate. Or, consider helping to prepare the food and/or serve it on the day of the breakfast.
Please talk to Scotty Pinson at extension 229 if you’re interested in contributing to this special ministry or contact our church office at 205.338.7711.
