The mantle of leadership for the young congregation was given to the first pastor, Rev. L.B. Jones. Mr. Ullman Robertson presented the purpose for the organization for a new church to be a "heart for peace and fellowship for the fowarding of the cause of Christ in this community".

  • 1956 - The church voted to change the name of the church to Eden Westside Baptist Church. The name came about because Eden, Alabama voted in 1956 to be incorporated into Pell City as West Pell City.  There was already a First Baptist Church of Pell City, hence the name changed.  The congregation did not want to lost the name Eden, and the town was to be know as West Pell City, which never quite caught on, so the committee chose the name Eden Westside Baptist Church.
  • August 1965 - Fire damaged building beyond use; Congregation met in the Eden School building until new building was available.
  • March 3, 1966 - New building was dedicated with a newly renovated and expanded auditorium, new Sunday School rooms, and new windows.  The front of the building was redesigned, and a vestibule was added, along with two new floors (providing 6 more rooms) and air conditioning.  Addtionally, the new building contained a Pastor's study and baptistry.
  • 1995 - Completion of new 820 seat Worship Center (Building B), fellowship hall, and classrooms
  • 2001 - Completion of the Equipping Center, which contains the gym and houses the preschool, children, and youth departments
  • 2005 - Begin construction on New Children's Building and completion of sports fields

Through the years, the work that was started in 1948 has been faithfully carried on by countless Christian teachers, leaders, and Pastors, resulting in many lives being changed and many people coming to know Christ as their savior.  Many generations owe their spiritual heritage to those who have gone on before us.
